Is the mover responsible when I pack my own moving boxes?

Can you tell me if the mover will be responsible for damage to the contents of the moving boxes which I pack?

The answer to your question is yes...and no.

To the best of my knowledge no moving company in America will be responsible for damage to the contents of boxes which a customer packs. However, if the moving company packs the box then the mover will be responsible for damage to the contents of the box according to the type of loss/damage liability which you select for your move. Therefore, when you pay a mover to pack boxes, in a way you are also getting the move to be responsible for the contents of the box which has been packed.

It should be noted that movers are responsible for boxes which are lost (or destroyed in a catastrophic loss), regardless of who has packed the box.

Therefore, the answer to your question is yes...and no.

Thanks for your question! Smiley
